LODI — Nekoosa’s tough non-conference schedule continued on Friday night, as they struggled against a top-notch Lodi Blue Devils squad.

After a two quick scores and a 14-0 lead over the Papermakers in the first, quarterback Kyle Olsen connected on an 89-yard bomb to Marquan Wiesan late in the first quarter to close the gap to 14-6 heading into the second quarter. However, Lodi running back Jacob Heyroth had Nekoosa’s number, finding paydirt three times, and rushing for 186 yards on 8 attempts.

Lodi took a 35-6 lead into halftime, and the score remained unchanged on the Nekoosa side, with an eventual final score of 56-6.

A bright spot on the Papermaker’s night would be the passing game, as receivers Marquan Wiesan and Jace Lobner combined for 159 receiving yards. Kyle Olsen went 6-for-19, 169 yards and a touchdown on the night.

This drops the Papermakers to 0-3 on the year, but look to rebound next week when they travel to Boscobel to take on the 0-3 Bulldogs in another non-conference game.
