Mid-State to Host Job Fair on Sept. 20
For the City Times
Event is free and open to all jobseekers
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The fall date for the semi-annual Central Wisconsin Job Fair is set for Wednesday, Sept. 20.
This free event is open to all jobseekers and will be held in the Gymnasium (E Building) at Mid-State Technical College’s Wisconsin Rapids campus (500 32nd Street North). The job fair is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and veterans are invited to arrive at 9:30 a.m. for a special early opening.
According to Mid-State career services coordinator Joe Pomrening, the Central Wisconsin Job Fair gives jobseekers direct access to the organizations looking to hire.
“Whether currently unemployed or just looking for better pay and benefits, this job fair gives everyone a chance to make a great first impression on the area’s best employers,” said Pomrening.
This year, roughly 74 employers so far have registered for the event. The full list of registered employers can be found at www.mstc.edu/cwjobfair.
“Qualified candidates who come prepared and ready to interview may be hired on the spot,” Pomrening added. “Dressing the part is key, and it’s important to bring several copies of your current resume.”
Survey data shows that the most recent Central Wisconsin Job Fair, held in spring, attracted 72 local employers across a variety of industries. Combined, those employers collected over 268 resumes from job seekers at the fair and identified numerous candidates for interview or immediate hire.
A Job Fair Fever workshop is available prior to the event and covers applications, resumes, what to wear, how to approach employers and more. Workshops will be held as follows:
- Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1–3 p.m., at Mid-State’s Stevens Point campus (1001 Centerpoint Dr., #634)
- Wednesday, Sept. 13, 1–3 p.m., and Thursday, September 14, 2–4 p.m., at the Wisconsin Rapids Job Center (320 W. Grand Ave., #102)
- Thursday, Sept. 14, 1–3 p.m., at Mid-State’s Marshfield campus (2600 W. 5th St., #CE126)
- Monday, Sept. 18, 1–3 p.m., at Mid-State’s Adam’s County center (401 N. Main St., #111)
