WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The community is invited to have their sensitive documents shredded free of charge and help United Way at the same time.

Community Shred Day is an opportunity for community members to protect their identities by shredding documents – such as old tax returns, bank statements and cancelled checks – free and securely onsite by Shred Safe.  The event will take place Sept. 13, 2017 from 11AM – 2PM in the River Cities Bank parking lot.

Additionally, for each pound of paper brought to be shredded, United Way of Inner Wisconsin will receive $1, with a maximum donation of $2,000 thanks to sponsors River Cities Bank and Bank-A-Count Corp.

There will be a maximum of two free boxes of documents shredded, measuring 18” x 10” per person; however more boxes can be shredded for a $5 donation (per box) to United Way of Inner Wisconsin.  United Way volunteers will be on hand to assist community members by carrying boxes from their cars.  Participants can even watch their documents being shredded if they wish.

“Protecting yourself from identity theft is important and shredding old documents is one of the best ways to safeguard yourself,” said Tari Jahns, CEO of United Way of Inner Wisconsin.  “Thanks to River Cities Bank and Bank-A-Count, you can accomplish this securely and for free… and support United Way at the same time.”

River Cities Bank is located at 1601 Lincoln St., Wisconsin Rapids.
