WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Lincoln High School Principal Ronald Rasmussen announced the 2018 commended students for the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Lincoln students Nathan Hepp, and Paige Vruwink were announced as the recipients of a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) and such will be presented to these talented seniors. 34,000 students nationwide are being recognized in this program for their “exceptional academic promise.”

Commended students placed in the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 National Scholarship Merit Awards competition. While these students are being recognized by the NMSC, they will not participate in the 2018 competition.

“These young men and women being named commended students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key roles their schools play in academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
