SPOONER — The Riverkings have won their first four games on the year after completing a successful road this weekend in Spooner.

Saturday Night

After a slow start and a 1-0 Spooner Muskies lead, veteran Ryan Mantz found the back of the net to tie it at one-a-piece, and starting the momentum that would carry the Riverkings through the weekend. New addition Raymond Fleming knocked one in late in the second to put the Riverkings ahead 2-1, which would be the eventual go-ahead goal.

With a solid third period of play and goals by Corey Schwarz and Brett DeLatt, the Riverkings finished off the Muskies with a final score of 4-1. Adam Peterson, Austyn Quarters, Xander Mavrogiannis and Jesse Edwards all picked up assists on the night.

Sunday Night

Sunday was shaping up as the night before, with Spooner picking up a 1-0 lead that would hold until the second period. However, Russian sensation Daniil Pilya evened the score at 1-1 late in the second, assisted by Raymond Fleming.

It was all Riverkings in the third period, as Adam Peterson and Cory Schwarz both contributed goals, as they held the Muskies scoreless in that period for a 4-1 win. Mantz, Quarters, and Mavrogiannis all had assists on the night.

The Riverkings will continue their road trip as they head to Owatonna, Minn. as they take on division rival Steel County Blades on Saturday and Sunday.
