ARPIN — Lester Public Library has released their schedule of events for October.

Oct. 2 – Oct. 13
-Write On Writer’s Workshop
Published writer Kris Rued-Clark will share her enthusiasm for writing and suggest resources for writers.  No matter what your writing experience or style, this program will provide tips and hints to get you writing more or inspire you to take the next step to publishing your work. There is no charge.

Oct. 2-13
-Banned Book Week
People are often surprised by the books that have been banned over the years. The library invites you to view our banned book display. The display proves to be fun and surprising, according to library officials.

Oct. 3-16
-Semi-Annual Book Sale
Children’s and adult books available for sale at great prices.

Oct. 31
-Halloween Party (4PM – 8PM)
Games, activities and Halloween treats.

Butterfly Garden
Arpin Library patrons and staff are in the process of planning a butterfly garden. The garden will provide a great educational tool, a butterfly haven, and enhance the landscaping around the library. The preparation of the ground including cardboard, black dirt, the truck to deliver the dirt, a bench, and some plants have been donated. The garden still needs mulch before winter. Design, signage, and pathways will be planned over the winter. The committee would welcome donations and help.

Meditation Garden
The garden next to the library has been expanding with the addition of perennials and a bench. Patrons have described it as an “English Tea Garden” and “meditation garden.” The library would like to see pavers and signage strategically placed to give the garden a more finished look, while continuing to include vegetables, herbs, and annuals. Our story hour children have been particularly involved in its use as an educational, hands-on tool. The library is looking for people who would like to take this garden under their wing.
