For the City Times

As a brilliant, colorful sun was raising on Thursday, Oct. 5, Paula E. Rein (nee Schmidt) was being welcomed in God’s Arms.

She is survived by her best friend and partner in marriage of 42 years, Chuck. Beloved mom of LeAnne Powell (Dave Miller), Kelly Riley (Paul Ivers), Erin Anderson (Adam), Davin Rein (Robyn); step-mom of Dena Jo Lazo.

Further survived by her brother, Jon Schmidt of Rockford, Illinois; sister, Robin (Rich) Pruitt of Bonner Springs, Kansas. Beloved grandma to Samantha, Shawn, Brandon, Joshua, Adam, Johanna, Zachery and Madelyn. Step-grandma to Megan, Isabel and Rylee. Great-grandma to Ayden, Caitlyn, Harley and Shawn, Jr.

Fondly remembered by five brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews; many friends and co-workers and her loving fur baby, Miss Maggie.

Paula was an LPN for 27 years and was a licensed beautician before that. In her prime, she was an avid bowler. She loved the Brewers, the Packers and NASCAR Racing.

She is pre-deceased by her father, Paul; mother, Martha Jean; step-mom, Margaret; and brother-in-law, Randy.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner with the Rev. Kevin Ader officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
