Assumption Routes Thorp, Wins Fourth Straight

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Royals are ready for playoff football, and that was quite clear in their 43-13 route of Thorp on Thursday night.
Quarterback Jake Sullivan threw for three touchdowns and over 200 yards in a game that had the Royals dominate from the get-go. With contributions from John Gudelis twice from Sullivan, Assumption found themselves up 21-7 at halftime.
However, the play of the game came with a 72-yard bomb from Sullivan to Joe Grundhoffer, who would lateral it to Craig Elsen for an eventual touchdown. The Royals had playmakers on all sides of the ball, including players making plays in different roles than they’re used to.
Running back Cole Statz would grab an interception during the game, and defensive tackle Cole Drexler would actually find the endzone on a 3-yard run in the second. Overall, this could have been considered the best team effort on the season for the Royals, and it comes right before next week’s playoff matchup to be determined.
The Royals finish 6-3 on the year, on the heels of four straight wins.
