WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Riverkings put up nearly 10 goals over the weekend in a sweep of the Decatur Blaze.

In a defensive battle on Friday night, the first goal and only goal of the second period would come from Kristoffer Berggren, with an assist by Alexander Mavrogaiannis. Adam Peterson would add to that tally, and that’s all they would need for the night, as they would hold off the Blaze 2-1.

Goalie Domenic Paciocco knocked away 12 of 13 shots on the night for the Riverkings.

On Saturday night, the Riverkings amped up their scoring, as after a lone goal by Jacob Gaydos in the first period, they would come back with three in the second. Adam Peterson, Daniil Piliya, and Kyle Smith found the back of the net in the third period, increasing their lead to 4-1 by the start of the third.

In the third, goals by Ryan Mantz, Cory Schwarz, and Kristoffer Berggren would add to an eventual 7-2 win. Goalie Parker Rutherford had 14 saves on the night.

The 12-3 Riverkings will head to Minnesota next week for a four-game stint; two games against the Minnesota Moose, and two games against the Minnesota Mullets.
