In addition, here are some trick-or-treating tips from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department for tonight.

-Plan a route before hand
-Trick or treat in well-lit areas
-Follow all pedestrian laws
-Cross at crosswalks, street corners and traffic signals
-Walk on sidewalks when possible; if no sidewalk, walk to far edge or roadway facing traffic.
-Keep an eye out for turning vehicles at intersections or those turning into driveways

Costume Tips
-Reflective or bright colors
-Use face paint vs. masks that can obstruct a child’s vision
-Pick the right size costume to avoid trips and falls

Driving Tips
-Slow down
-Look for children in neighborhoods and those that may run out from behind a parked vehicle
-Only accept prepackaged candy and no homemade treats
-Only accept candy outside the front door, never enter a home of a stranger
