Vesper Home Takes Extensive Fire Damage

VESPER — Authorities responded to a house fire on Friday night in Vesper.
According to a news release, on arrival, they found a single family home with heavy fire in the living room, garage and attic. The  fire resulted in extensive damage. The cause of the fire that started in or near the living room is undetermined.
Vesper Fire Dept was assisted by fire departments from Port Edwards, Wis Rapids, Arpin, Pittsville, along with the Wood County Central Rapid Intervention (RIT) Team. Additional assistance was provided by the Wood County Fire Investigation Task Force, Wood County Sheriff’s Dept. and United Ambulance.
Property owners Justin & Fritzi Matthews and their five children were not home at the time of the fire. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross. There were no injuries. Firefighters were on scene for approximately six hours.
