WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings stayed busy on their weeks off, including serving the community in multiple ways.

“The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings Jr. A hockey club prides itself on its on ice product, but is also committed to volunteering and helping in the community as it continues its quest to build hockey up and down the river.” said Head Coach Marty Quarters.

This kicked off with a visit to Lambeau Field on Monday night for a fundraiser, in which players volunteered their time to work concession stands for their game against Detroit. This would be the fifth straight year the Riverkings have dished out chili and hamburgers to the Green Bay Packers faithful.

Soon after, the team hit St. Norbert College in DePere for an eventual game against their JV squad after a tour of the campus.

“These college visits allow the team to explore the campus, get a meal in the dining hall and to see if a school would be a good fit both hockey wise and career wise academically,” said Quarters.

The Riverkings fared well in their contest, picking up a 14-1 win over St. Norbert. They did this short-handed, as other players were visiting other colleges in the area for future career prospects.

On Saturday, the Riverkings volunteered their time to the United Way in their annual ‘Day of Caring’ event. They raked three yards, as even in a bye week, the Riverkings continue to make a community impact.

“With all the tremendous support we receive from the fans and sponsorships it has become part of our culture and DNA to give back whenever we can.”

The Riverkings head to Minnesota this weekend to take on the Mullets.
