WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre will present The Christmas Angel, written by Wisconsin author James DeVita next week. The Christmas Angel runs Friday, Dec. 8 through Sunday, Dec. 17 and is a play for the whole family to enjoy.

The story centers around a chaotic family holiday gathering — something many of us can appreciate.  Grandpa recently passed away, and poor Grandma is trying to cope and keep everyone happy at the same time. Hannah is in her non-talking phase, Peter is acting out his grief by being naughty, Ginny is very pregnant and needy, and the brothers’ feud continues. Even the police get involved. But prayers are answered — in amidst the total chaos and mayhem, they receive a visit from a very quirky, very special Christmas Angel.

Author James DeVita is a core actor at American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin, and if you are a fan of “theatre in the woods,” you’ve seen this talented man perform. He is also an accomplished playwright, having written several scripts for adults and children. WRCT previously produced DeVita’s Looking Glass Land as one of its summer youth productions.

Director Lucy Runnells and Assistant Director Mystique Macomber lead a cast of nine characters through this delightful script which includes parts for young and not-so-young. The cast includes Deb Ciszewski, Jordan Haumschild, John Young, Gretchen Powers, Colten McMillen, Sarah Panzer, Mike Barrett, Tanya Barton, and Shannon Barrett. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased by contacting the WRCT office at 715-421-0435 or by going online at www.wrctheatre.org.

WRCT would like to thank Aspirus for sponsoring the holiday program again this year.
