Volunteer Opportunities for Week of Dec. 13
For the City Times
One of the goals of United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s Volunteer Center is to recruit and match volunteers for non-profit organizations needing your help in south Wood and Adams Counties. The following are this week’s volunteer opportunities.
ADRC- Meals on Wheels: Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 11am – noon to deliver meals from our Centralia and Huntington House Dining Sites. These meals enable frail, elderly people to remain in their own homes and receive a hot and nutritious meal. Consider bringing a bit of comfort AND food to an individual who needs it most. Routes typically take 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. Some volunteer choose to volunteer daily or even seasonally and some commit to specific days of the week. Volunteers do not have to drive every day but can set a schedule based on how often they are interested in volunteering.
Senior Meal Site Volunteers: Nourish. Community. Spirit.
Nourish: Ensure a meal with proper nutrition for older adults. Community: Bring people together for strength and connection. Spirit: Its more than just a meal. Join in on food and fun. The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin operates Senior Dining Sites throughout Wood County. Lunch is served at 11:30 – the days vary in each location. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, serving meals, and clean-up. Volunteers would also be welcome to provide musical entertainment, games (Bingo), or crafts The Senior Nutrition Program of the Aging & Disability Resource Center is in need of volunteers to help with set-up, serving, and clean-up at our Senior Dining Sites located in: Wisconsin Rapids, Nekoosa, and Marshfield. Help is needed on Mondays through Fridays from 10:15 until 1:15pm. Lunch is served at 11:30. There is no on site cooking, but help is needed with setting tables, making coffee, serving the food, and clean-up. Make connections with others and your community.
MEAD ELEMENTARY CHARTER SCHOOL-Complete Projects for Teachers: Looking to volunteer but not sure what you can do to help? This is a great way to support our classroom teachers by giving them a hand. Project might include sorting, copying, cutting, bulletin boards, laminating, or organizing. Some projects you are able to take home, while others we’ll have you complete at the school.
SOUTH WOOD COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY: Holiday Helpers: South Wood County Humane Society is seeking volunteers to assist with morning cleaning on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Our pets enjoy receiving extra attention from loving volunteers especially on the holidays. Opportunities include cleaning cat kennels, walking dogs, dishes, laundry and light housekeeping. Volunteering begins at 9am.
Volunteers must be 16 years old AND complete a volunteer application prior to beginning service. Visit our website for a volunteer application.
