Craig J. Arnold, 63, of the town of Saratoga, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, after a four-year battle with cancer.

He was born on June 24, 1954, in Wisconsin Rapids, to the late Lawrence and Theresa (Wirtz) Arnold. On Jan. 26, 1974, his marriage to Delain Zimmerman took place in Wisconsin Rapids.

Craig had worked at Preway before it’s closing and then worked for Local 18 as a sheetmetal worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring old cars. His pride was his 1955 Chevy. He was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life.

Survivors include his wife, Delain of the town of Saratoga; daughter, Kori (fiancée Kevin) Arnold of Jacksonville, Florida; son, Matthew (Amber) Arnold of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughters, Kennedy and Evelynn; brothers, Thomas (Jackie), Glen (Roberta), Chuck (Sarah), Daniel (Pati), Kevin, Patrick (Sheryl) and Brian (Julie) Arnold; sisters, Paula (Loren) Evenson, Amy Somers and Deborah (Ken) Micholic; brother-in-law, Thomas Dashner; mother-in-law, Mary Zimmerman; and special friends, Betty and Bill Kann. He is further survived by many brothers-and-sisters-in-law, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Craig was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Schara and Jane Dashner; father-in-law, Edwin Zimmerman; brother-in-law, David Zimmerman; and brother-in-law, Russ Schara.

The family thanks Dr. Kirshling and staff at the UW Cancer Center for their care of Craig. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Craig’s name to the American Cancer Society.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
