United Way Volunteer Opportunity Column for the First Week in January

For the City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — One of the goals of United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s Volunteer Center is to recruit and match volunteers for non-profit organizations needing your help in south Wood and Adams Counties. The following are this week’s volunteer opportunities:
Neighborhood Table: Meal Servers-Occasionally our meal sponsors are unable to supply the needed number of volunteers for a meal. We maintain a list of volunteers that we will call to supplement the volunteers to ensure a successful meal. We will typically call 4-5 days before the meal date to check your availability. Time commitment is 4-6:30 p.m., day of the meal.
Dishwahsers-The Neighborhood Table is in need of dishwashers for their weekly Thursday night meals and also on the last two Tuesdays of the month. Requirements are: must be able to stand for a few hours, carry dishes, any other tasks assigned by Neighborhood Table staff. Must be at least 14 years old.
Closer-Coach meal sponsor’s volunteers to successfully clean up and secure our meal site. Answer any questions the volunteers may have about clean-up tasks or about the meal program. Record number of meals served and any leftover food and share details with the meal coordinators for inclusion in upcoming meals. We ask that our closers would help with a meal every 4 to 6 weeks. Good communication and delegation skills are desired. Time commitment is 5-7 p.m., day of the meal.
Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre: Tickets Sales-We are looking for individual(s) to learn our ticketing system in order to help out selling tickets the week before a show opens and the week between performance weekends. The box office hours are 10a-2p, Tues.-Fri.
Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce: Office Support- The volunteer will be providing basic office support in a fun filled office environment. Duties will include answering phones, greeting customers, selling gift certificates and providing information about our great Heart of Wisconsin area.
