WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Some would argue that the gift of music is the greatest gift of all, and those at Moravian Church may agree with that notion.
On Dec. 22, the Friends of Rapids Music (FRM) Board of Directors awarded a $1,000 grant to the Moravian Church’s Community Music Ministry. According to FRM moderator Connie Tomski, the group at the church will use the funds to provide free music lessons for families in need that may not be able to afford them.
“It is hoped that learning an instrument could be a way to help both kids and adults find a better and more fulfilling life, free from drug and alcohol abuse or other detrimental choices that are sometimes made in our community,” said Tomski in a statement on the FRM Facebook page. “The lessons will be given in a room dedicated to this program in the church.”
FRM is asking any and all music lovers that might be interested in volunteering their time to teach lessons, or if they know someone who might be interested in taking the lessons, to contact her through the FRM Facebook page which can be found here.
