For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A schedule for Alzheimer’s group meetings has been released by the Hilltop Grand Village, 1400 24th St. South.

The Alzheimer’s caregiver support group is designed for people who have a family member or friend with Alzheimer’s or other dementia or for anyone who wishes to learn more about it.

Feb. 8 – When Bathing is a Burden

A typical concern for many caregivers is bathing their loved one. Often, people with dementia resist bathing. We’ll discuss why it’s a concern and offer tips to ease the strain. Caregivers can ask questions and share ideas.

March 8 – Alz.org Resources

You have questions. Alz.org has answers. From the resource pages with plenty of tips and helpful suggestions to the forums where other caregivers post questions and answers, you’ll find what you’re looking for – even if it’s just reassurance you’re not alone.

April 12 – Effective Communication

Families facing Alzheimer’s explore effective communication strategies and learn how to decode messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. Tasha Beestman of the Alzheimer’s Association will be the guest presenter.
