Youth Art Month to be Celebrated in March

PORT EDWARDS — Youth Art Month is being celebrated during March at the Alexander House, 1131 Wisconsin River Dr. in Port Edwards, with a showing of over 100 pieces created by students of the Nekoosa Public Schools.
The show will open with a public reception to be held from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, Feb. 25, with refreshments being served. Students representing Humke Elementary, Alexander Middle and Nekoosa High Schools will be exhibiting their artwork in two and three dimensional media. These young artists are the students of Laurie Tenpas, Missy Rokser and Amy Reardon.
The exhibit will continue through April 3rd, 2018. Youth Art Month, is recognized and celebrated in the state by the Wisconsin Art Education Association and throughout the United States by the National Art Education Association.It is a month of promoting art and art education in the United States for grades K – 12 and emphasizes the value of art education.
Each year the Alexander House supports Youth Art Month with a show of student work. The Alexander House is open Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.
