Jack Merila Jr.
Jack Wayne Merila Jr., age 48, of Bancroft, Wis., died Sunday, February 4, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held at Shuda Funeral Chapel from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m., with a service at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Pastor David Birch will officiate.  Jack was born April 25, 1969, in Harvey, Illinois, to Pamela Kemp and Jack Merila Sr. He graduated from Nekoosa High School.

Jack married Dawn Arnold on May 23, 2009. They lived in Bancroft with their beloved dog, Trissie. Jack worked for McCain Foods in Plover, where he worked until his passing. Jack enjoyed hunting on his property in Bancroft, fishing, reading the bible, and playing computer games. He also liked to tinker and fix things around the house. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Merila, of Bancroft; parents Pamela Kemp of Almond and Jack Merila Sr. of Almond; brothers Mike (Sylvia) Merila of Almond, David (Jenny) Merila of Wausau, and sister Karen (Mike) Sorensen of Clintonville; and grandmother Elaine Kemp of King. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his brother Frank (Farran) Merila of Wisconsin Rapids.

Dawn would like to thank the Oncology and Intermediate Medical Care staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the kind and compassionate care given to Jack.

Your kindness will always be remembered.
