United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s Volunteer Center promotes the volunteer needs of local non-profit organizations in both south Wood and Adams Counties on a weekly basis. Here is how you can get involved and volunteer for these great organizations.

Aging and Disability Resource Center-Meals on Wheels: Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 11am – noon to deliver meals from our Centralia and Huntington House Dining Sites. These meals enable frail, elderly people to remain in their own homes and receive a hot and nutritious meal. Consider bringing a bit of comfort AND food to an individual who needs it most. Routes typically take 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. Some volunteer choose to volunteer daily or even seasonally and some commit to specific days of the week. Volunteers do not have to drive every day but can set a schedule based on how often they are interested in volunteering.

Senior Meal Site Volunteer: Nourish. Community. Spirit.

Nourish: Ensure a meal with proper nutrition for older adults. Community: Bring people together for strength and connection. Spirit: It’s more than just a meal. Join in on food and fun. The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin operates Senior Dining Sites throughout Wood County. Lunch is served at 11:30– the days vary in each location. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, serving meals, and clean-up. Volunteers would also be welcome to provide musical entertainment, games (Bingo), or crafts The Senior Nutrition Program of the Aging & Disability Resource Center is in need of volunteers to help with set-up, serving, and clean-up at our Senior Dining Sites located in: Wisconsin Rapids, Nekoosa, and Marshfield. Help is needed on Mondays through Fridays from 10:15 until 1:15pm. Lunch is served at 11:30. There is no on site cooking, but help is needed with setting tables, making coffee, serving the food, and clean-up. Make connections with others and your community.

Heartland Hospice- Vet to Vet Volunteer Program: Our Vet-to-Vet volunteer program is dedicated to providing quality care to our patients and families that are living in this community. Volunteers help improve the quality of our patients lives through social interaction and companionship. Heartland Hospice is in need of volunteers with military background to join our team of caring professionals! Volunteers are matched up with a veteran that is currently receiving hospice services that would like friendly visits and additional companionship from another veteran. Fellow veterans may be able to relate to the life experiences of the hospice patient and share stories to help enrich the patient’s life during those final months.

Administrative/Office Volunteer: Are you or someone you know looking to gain administrative experience in an office setting? Administrative / Office volunteers contribute to the Heartland Hospice mission by providing needed office support. Some of the activities include mailing out cards, newsletters, various copying, assembling volunteer orientation manuals and in-service packets, inventory on hospice forms, filing, preparing admission and nurse folders with the required forms. Our office is located in Stevens Point, WI. We are looking for weekly volunteers. Please contact our office at 715-344-4541 to get more information on how to join our team.

Lowell Center- Lowell Center has a volunteer opportunity for everyone! From receptionists, food set-up/cleanup, bingo callers, blood pressure screeners to teaching card games or helping with dances. Call or visit website for full list of opportunities.
