WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A local man faces multiple charges of possession of child pornography, as well as possession of methamphetamine.

According to police reports, an undercover investigation was carried out by the Marshfield Police Department regarding the distribution of child pornography online. Using BitTorrent, the investigation would uncover an I.P. address willing to distribute the material.

Police tracked the I.P. address to a location in Wisconsin Rapids, and with help from Wisconsin Rapids police, tracked down the physical address. Initially, residents in the address and surrounding areas that may have had access to the WiFi used in the I.P. address denied any involvement.

Officers would speak to the eventual defendant, identified as 42-year-old Spencer Victorey. He informed police that he asked a neighbor to borrow internet usage from them in exchange for money. This usage would involve the illegal activity that Victorey was later charged for.

Victorey allegedly used his smartphone to download child pornography, where many videos were found. Victorey asked a family member to take their child and leave as he stated “They’re going to arrest me for child porn, and I don’t want you to see it.”

After a search of the residence, police would find drug paraphernalia, and 0.9 grams of methamphetamine. In total, Victorey is charged with 10 counts of child pornography, with a total maximum sentence of up to 250 years in prison. He also faces additional charges of methamphetamine possession.

Update: On April 18, Victorey was found and taken into custody from a prior no-show of his April 18 court date. His next court date is slated for April 24.
