United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s Volunteer Center promotes the volunteer needs of local non-profit organizations in both south Wood and Adams Counties on a weekly basis. Here is how you can get involved and volunteer for these great organizations.
Red Cross: Blood Services: Donor Ambassador Purpose: Provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service to enhance the blood donor experience. Engage with blood donors to promote blood donation and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations.
Responsibilities: •Willingness to support the American Red Cross mission
- Ability to display the utmost professionalism and communication skills
- Extremely comfortable working with people from all walks of life
- Ability to represent the American Red Cross to the community
Time Commitment: 6 hours per shift. Variable; preferred commitment 1 shift/month
Boys and Girls Club: Mentors-The Boys & Girls Club is looking for 2 to 3 Mentors to donate an hour of their time once a week at one of our after school programs in Nekoosa, Port Edwards or Wisconsin Rapids. Mentor will build relationships with or members through engaging in different activities at the Club. These activities include play board games with kids, help kids with homework, or play interactive games with the kids in the gym. The most active hours when Mentors are needed are from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Mentors must fill out the Volunteer Application and pass a background check. Become a Mentor today!
Wisconsin Rapids Area Habitat for Humanity: Volunteer Project Coordinator– Wisconsin Rapids Area Habitat for Humanity is looking for a Volunteer Project Coordinator. This person must be familiar with all aspects of building a home. The project coordinator will be involved with other volunteers and work closely with them and the Habitat for Humanity team while coordinating the new home build. Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce: Office Support Volunteer-The volunteer will be providing basic office support in a fun filled office environment. Duties will include answering phones, greeting customers, selling gift certificates and providing information about our great Heart of Wisconsin area.
