83 Local Crisis Agencies Say “Thank you!”

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — 91.9FM/91.5FM/91.3FM/88.5FM The Family: The Family Radio Network announces the results of their 2018 “Help for the Homeless” hygiene drive.

Records were broken again as $410,000 worth of new hygiene and cleaning products were donated to local crisis programs in 15 Northeast and Central Wisconsin communities. The 83 crisis agencies benefiting from these donations are sincerely grateful for this generous help! In its 26th year, “Help for the Homeless” has provided $3 million worth of hygiene supplies to local crisis programs and those they serve.

“Her hours were cut and she was using all of her money for food and bills. She was so thankful that we could help her with diapers, and laundry detergent.  She was worried that her kids wouldn’t have clean clothes to go to school in and she would need to ration out their food, so she could buy diapers.  She is so thankful that we could help her until she is on her feet again!” – Dina Borremans, Golden House Domestic Abuse Shelter, Green Bay

The Family works with area homeless coalitions, inviting people to donate hygiene and cleaning items to their local crisis programs to help them direct their limited funds to providing qualified staff, counseling, shelter, and food to those they serve.

More than 875 local businesses, churches and schools participated by placing collection boxes in their high traffic areas and inviting their own staff, members and students to donate for 3 weeks this spring. Public collection boxes were hosted by Festival Foods Stores, Shopko Stores, and Walgreens. Donations remain in the community where they are collected. The goal of “Help for the Homeless” is to supply a year’s worth of products to each agency.

91.9FM/91.5FM/91.3FM/88.5FM The Family radio network, along with the 83 crisis programs, thanks everyone who donated, volunteered, and sponsored the drive this spring! Next year’s dates are Feb.17-March 10. More at thefamily.net or 800-236-9364. More info at thefamily.net.
