WISCONSIN RAPIDS — City officials have approved a $6,440 upgrade to the decades-old lower level bathrooms at McMillan Library.
Funds will be taken from the Municipal Building Improvement Fund, which accepts a proposal from Arc Central for the improvements. Additional improvements not approved by city officials will be taken from the library endowment fund.
“They’re the same as you would remember in 1970.” said Barnett, when asked of the current state of the library restrooms. “The restrooms are approaching 50 years old, and they do need work. Fixtures are bad, and some of them are cracked and need replacement. …about half of this project is putting in a full family bathroom.”
The city may borrow up to $100,000 to cover costs of the project, though not likely. If approved through common council next week, planning and construction could be completed by summer.
