Local state assembly races set

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Local state assembly races have been set, as the deadline for candidates to file nominating petitions for fall mid-term election was June 1.
In the 69th Assembly district, Republican Bob Kulp of Stratford is unopposed.
In the 71st Assembly District, Stevens Point Democrat Katrina Shankland will secure another term, as she will be on the ballot unopposed.
Republican Representative Scott Krug of Nekoosa will face Wisconsin Rapids Democrat David Gorski for the 72nd Assembly District seat.
The 85th Assembly District seat currently held by Schofield Republican Pat Snyder is also contested. Snyder will face Alyson Leahy, a political newcomer who currently serves on the Marathon County Board of Supervisors.
In the 86th Assembly District, a Republican Primary will be required Aug. 14 between incumbent John Spiros of Marshfield and current Mosinee Mayor Brent Jacobson. The winner will face off against Democrat Nancy Stencil of Wausau and Michael Tauschek of Auburndale, who is running as an independent.
In the 29th state Senate District, Marathon Republican Jerry Petrowski will be challenged by Lublin Democrat Richard Pulcher.
