WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area recently received a $5,000 grant from Walmart.
“Our Club serves approximately 250 members daily during the summer program. We provide breakfast, lunch and snack, academic enrichment programming, off-site field trips, and of course, lots of fun! In order to accomplish all of this, we rely on the support of our community. Thanks to Walmart, our teen center can now turn the DIY STEM program from a dream to a reality!”
“DIY STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is a hands-on, activity-based STEM curriculum which connects youth aged 9 to 12 to science themes they encounter regularly” – Boys & Girls Club of America. This is a nation-wide enrichment program that supports making the connection between science and real-world application. Members will get to explore these ideas through fun activities and games throughout the summer.
DIY STEM is just one of the many programs that we offer our members on a daily basis. Some other activities to look forward to this summer include field trips, arts and crafts, Brain Gain, reading, health and fitness, healthy habits, and plenty of time outside.
“We are so grateful for this incredible support. Without it, we would not be able to engage the kids in some of the exciting activities that they enjoy like DIY STEM. This year’s summer programming is going to be bigger and better than ever before, which will hopefully draw more youth to spend their time at a safe place like Club.” said Sam Hodgson, Development Director.
“Generous gifts, like that from Walmart, are what keep daily programming alive at the Boys & Girls Club. We are excited for the ability to provide our youth with the quality activities and care that they deserve. Thank you, Walmart, for your support!”
