Wood County to receive funds for food and shelter programs

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wood County has been chosen to receive $9,139 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in Wood County.
United Way of Inner Wisconsin is the fiscal agent for these Federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (EFSP). Applications are being accepted for EFSP funds from agencies that provide shelter, food, and supportive services for homeless individuals in Wood County.
Under the terms of the grant from the National EFSP Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must be private voluntary non-profits or units of government eligible to receive Federal funds; have an accounting system; practice nondiscrimination; and demonstrate the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs. Private voluntary organization must operate with a voluntary board to qualify.
