Rafters take first shutout loss of the season

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters suffered their first shutout loss of the season to the Kalamazoo Growlers by a final of 7-0. The loss on June 15 marks the first time the Rafters have lost a two-game series this year.
Kalamazoo struck first in the first for the second straight night. The Growlers scored twice from an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. Three more runs crossed in the third from a three-run homer to left centerfield from Zach Daniels. The Growlers scored once in the fifth and sixth due to another RBI single as well as a sacrifice fly.
Jake Cook (1-2, 6.75 ERA) took the loss giving up five earned runs in five innings. Tommy Vail (1-0, 0.00) earned his first win with Kalamazoo by tossing seven innings of scoreless ball.
