WISCONSIN RAPIDS — “Protect Wood County” will consider future action regarding the proposed expansion of the Golden Sands Dairy, after the Wisconsin Supreme Court overruled a lower court ruling that would allow for the mega-farm to move forward.

Protect Wood County and its neighbors will hold a town hall meeting June 25 to talk about the implications of the court’s decision and what the town might do next. According to a Facebook post by the group, Attorney Paul Kent of Madison will give a short presentation on the decision, followed by a 30-minute question and answer session.

The discussion will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Saratoga Town Hall located at 1120 State Highway 73 in Wisconsin Rapids.

On June 5, the State Supreme Court ruled 5-2 that the farm’s owners could utilize over 6,000 acres of land for the proposed operation. The town had previously re-zoned the land in a way that would not have permitted the operation.
