For the Rapids City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (13-12) were swept by the Wisconsin Woodchucks (8-18) by a final of 8-4. Both teams nailed homers early, but the Woodchucks collected a grand slam and scored four unanswered runs to win the second game of the two-game series.

Steven Rivas (Long Beach State) started things with a bang on a two-run home run to right field. The Woodchucks responded with a grand slam from Peter Ahn in their half of the second to take a 4-2 lead.

The Chucks tacked on four more runs between the fourth and eighth innings.  Reese Alexiades collected an RBI double in the fourth. Cooper Swanson nailed an RBI single in the fifth. A sac fly from Zach DeLoach plated one in the sixth and a walk to Swanson with the bases loaded brought in a run.

Stevens Rivas was not finished. He hit another two-run bomb to right to bring the Rafters within four in the ninth. The Woodchucks held on for the 8-4 win.

Jordan Walden (2-2, 1.86 ERA) earned the win with a scoreless third and fourth after starter Dylan Carter was done after two frames. Justin Wilson (0-1, 9.00 ERA) suffered the loss, allowing four runs in two innings.
