Veterans Memorial Legacy Stone Ceremony

For the Rapids City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The city of Wisconsin Rapids invites residents and visitors to gather for the “Salute to our Heroes” tribute, at 8 p.m., in Veterans Memorial Park on July 4.

This red-white-and-blue event, originally scheduled for 8:50 p.m., celebrates our country’s independence by recognizing those who serve or have served in our nation’s defense. All active duty, Guard, Reserve, and retired military personnel, and their families, are warmly and gratefully invited to participate. Past and present military members are encouraged to come wearing their uniforms.

All attendees will receive a small American flag.

Salute to our Heroes will take place near the light pole in the center of Veterans Park, 112 Second Ave. S. The brief program will conclude by 8:10 p.m. with the singing of our National Anthem, and we encourage all attendees to keep their eyes to the sky during this time for a new addition to this year’s show.

This observance will be held in conjunction with the city’s annual Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza, choreographed to lively music. The fireworks begin at 9:30 a.m., along the shores of the Wisconsin River in downtown Wisconsin Rapids.
