WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (18-22, 3-2 second half) almost completed a ninth-inning comeback against the Lakeshore Chinooks (21-19, 5-0 second half). The Rafters were down 4-0 to begin the ninth and plated three runs on three hits, brought the go-ahead the run to the plate, but a ground out ended the rally.

Lakeshore started the scoring in the fifth with a two-run double just inside the right field line from Jack Dunn. Two more runs came home in the seventh from a two-run base hit from Christian Boulware.

The Rafters’ ninth started with Steven Rivas (Long Beach State) working a lead-off walk. Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) followed with a base hit. Mike Rojas (Auburn) delivered a two-run double and later scored on a two-out, pinch-hit single from Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt). With the tying run on at first, a ground out to second ended the rally.

Austin Jones (2-3, 5.46 ERA) earned the win, his second of the year. Josh Winkler (0-2, 4.50 ERA) suffered his second loss despite allowing only two runs on three hits.
