WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The League of Women Voters of the Wisconsin Rapids Area (LWVWRA) and Wisconsin Rapids Community Media (WRCM) is hosting a voter forum for the candidates competing on the Aug. 14 primary election ballot.

On Aug. 14 voters will have the opportunity to choose which candidates will appear on the November general election ballot for the offices of: Wood County coroner, Wood County clerk of courts, and Wood County sheriff.

The Republican Party is running two candidates each for the offices of Wood County Clerk, Wood County coroner and Wood County sheriff. The Democratic Party has two candidates for the office of Wood County sheriff.  Your vote on Aug. 14 will narrow to one per party.

The forums will be held at the Wisconsin Rapids Community Media studio, located in the Centralia Center at 220 3rd Ave. S, adjacent to the Rapids Mall, on July 31 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The following candidates have been invited to attend the forum: Wood County clerk of courts — Cindy Joosten and Brad Kremer-Republican; Wood County coroner:

Linda A. Stankey and Scott D. Brehm – Republican; and Wood County sheriff:

Joel A. Flewellen and Shawn Becker-Republican, Theodore C. Ashbeck, Jr. and John Hiller-Democrat.

The forum can be viewed live on the WRCM website at www.wr-cm.org , Solarus high-definition channel 3, Charter Cable standard-definition channel 985 and on Roku devices by adding the WRCM’s channel through the web at: http://roku.streamsource.tv/add/wrcm.

The League encourages voters to attend this event or phone 715-423-0441 to submit questions to the candidates during the live broadcast.

The forum will be rebroadcast at various times on the television channels and will also be available on WRCM’s YouTube channel 24 hours after the forum, at www.wisconsinrapidscommunitymedia.com.
