United Way begins school supply program for upcoming school year

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties has begun its school supply program for the upcoming school year through the “Stuff the Desk” and “Stuff the Bus” programs.
To donate school supplies, visit www.uwswac.org for collection sites or bring donations to Lunch by the River on Aug. 2. Make monetary donations to Stuff the Bus/Stuff the Desk, c/o United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties, 351 Oak Street, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494.
Registration is open for Stuff the Desk until Aug. 3. Families can register by completing the online application, which can be found at www.uwswac.org; or call 211 or 877-947-2211, Monday- Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. to apply over the phone. This opportunity is available for children and youth in grades 4K-12th grade, enrolled in area public and private schools in south Wood County. All families who are in financial need qualify.
Stuff the Desk distribution of school supplies will be held Aug. 18 at Lincoln High School, 1801 16th St. S., Wisconsin Rapids. Students who pre-registered will be mailed a postcard, which will list the time pick up their supplies.

Last year’s Stuff the Bus/Stuff the Desk provided school supplies to 787 children in the Rapids community.
