Suspicious item found in Rudolph

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – On July 26, at approximately 10:13 a.m., Wood County Dispatch received a call of a suspicious item placed on the roadway with a threatening message on Fifth Avenue North, one mile north of State Highway 34 in the town of Rudolph.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Departments Bomb Squad was requested and responded to the scene.

During inspection of the item, Fifth Avenue North was closed down for a few hours until the suspicious item was rendered safe, without incident.

Upon investigation, a suspect in the incident was identified and arrested for disorderly conduct.

Agencies assisting the Wood County Sheriff’s Department included the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, United Ambulance, and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.
