For the Rapids City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (26-30, 11-10 second half) lost to the Rockford Rivets (24-32, 6-16 second half) 10-2. It was all Rockford until the ninth, when the Rafters broke up a 10-0 shutout.

Rockford struck first in the second with a three-run double from Parker Bates. Ryan Cole then collected an RBI double and scored on an error to cap off the five-run second inning. Two more Rivets runs crossed home plate in the third from a two-run double from Cade Bunnell. Rockford would finish in the fifth with three more runs two from a base hit and another from a bases-loaded walk.

The Rafters showed fight in the ninth. With one out, Bret Fehr (SIU Edwardsville) nailed a solo home run for the first Rafter run of the night. Alex Fedje-Johnson (Davidson) delivered an RBI sac fly to right to score Payton Robertson (Louisiana State Shreveport). Rockford held on from there with a 10-2 final.

The loss is suffered by Jake Cook (1-7, 7.16 ERA). The win is given to Jimmy Burnette (1-4, 4.45) who took a no-hit bid to the seventh.
