Rafters shut out by Bombers

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (29-33, 14-13 second half) were shut out 9-0 by the Battle Creek Bombers (31-32, 15-13 second half) on Aug. 2. The Bombers took an early lead and kept piling on throughout the night.
Battle Creek scored one in the first from a sac fly by Jordan Swiss. After a rain delay in the second inning, play resumed, and the Bombers picked up where they left off. Battle Creek score eight runs between the fourth and seventh innings.
The big inning for the Bombers was the fifth as they scored four times on two hits. Four walks were issued by Rafters pitchers in the inning. The Rafters ultimately fell 9-0 to the Bombers, the fourth shutout loss for Wisconsin Rapids. All four of the shutout losses have come on the road.
Michael McCraith (4-3, 2.98 ERA) earned the win with eight shutout innings and nine strikeouts. Trayson Kubo (6-2, 1.53 ERA) suffered the tough loss allowing two earned runs in 4.1 innings with six strikeouts.
