Rafters split season series with Dock Spiders

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (30-35, 15-15 second half) took down the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (36-29, 15-15 second half) 6-3. Ten errors were committed combined between both clubs, but the Rafters overcame their gaffes in the field to win 6-3.
Fond du Lac was the first to score, striking in the second inning. One run scored on a Rafter error while another run came in on a base hit from Chris Ayers.
The Rafters took over from there as they took the lead in the third. Wisconsin Rapids scored three times on one hit and three Fond du Lac errors. Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) tied the game at two with a double and took the lead 3-2 on an RBI sac fly from Jake Dunham (Northern Illinois). The cranberry and gold poured it on in the fourth with three more runs. Payton Robertson (Louisiana State Shreveport) and Matt Schmidt (Michigan) scored on an error from Dock Spiders’ Mitch Boe. Jake Dunham brought in his second of the evening with a base hit.
Fond du Lac would score one more time in the sixth from a Rafter error. Wisconsin Rapids held on to the three-run lead to split the two-game series 1-1 and the season series 4-4. Chandler Greenfield (3-1, 3.18 ERA) won his third game of the season in his second quality start. Greenfield allowed three unearned runs in six innings while striking out five. Sam Hubbe (3-3, 3.38 ERA) suffered the loss despite giving up no earned runs; however, six runs scored due to five Dock Spiders errors in his 3.2 innings on the mound. Hunter Waldis (1-0, 3.04 ERA) earned his second save with a scoreless ninth.
