Highground to hold 30th anniversary celebration

For Hub City Times
NEILLSVILLE – The Highground will host a 30th Anniversary and “Fragments” – the Vietnam Veteran’s Tribute – Yellow Ribbon Campaign parade, ceremony, and fireworks on Sept. 22.
What started out as a day to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of The Highground and Fragments has become a large event with a Yellow Ribbon campaign encompassing Central Wisconsin.
With the assistance of Clark County Economic Development and Tourism Director Sheila Nyberg, veterans’ posts, communities, businesses, and individuals are working diligently to create thousands of large yellow ribbons to be placed on main thoroughfares throughout central Wisconsin. When veterans travel to The Highground for the 30th Anniversary event, they will be driving through yellow-ribbon lined corridors.
The day will be a public recognition of Vietnam veterans. A “Yellow Ribbon Veterans Welcome Home” motorcade parade will take place through Neillsville, bringing veterans to The Highground. Veterans and posts interested in joining the parade are encouraged to travel together in buses to the staging site at the Clark County Fairgrounds, Neillsville, to travel to the Highground via motorcade due to the logistics and parking at The Highground. The parade will begin at noon.
The 30th Anniversary event will kick off on Sept. 21, with exhibits and presentations that will continue through Sept. 22. Food, music, and fireworks will round out the events.
