Roger Manske

Roger Manske, age 69, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his residence.

A celebration of life will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at taylorfuneralhome.net

Roger was born in Watertown on October 10, 1948 to Norman and Ruth (Berger) Manske. Roger proudly volunteered to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1969, during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 9 in Wisconsin Rapids. He married Myra Droste on June 23, 1984 in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 34 years of marriage. Together they ran an Adult Foster Home for 35 years. Roger worked for the Chicago North & Western/ Union Pacific for over 30 years until his retirement.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time up north going to the family cabin, hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle were some of his favorites. Most of Roger’s free time was spent watching John Wayne movies, doing crosswords and playing sudoku. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends and grandchildren. He played horse shoes for Wildhorse and Ida’s and was also on the pool team for Ida’s.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Myra; children: Scott (Michelle Heizer) Droste of Wisconsin Rapids, Sonja (Todd) Christ of Montello, Julie Coleman of Wisconsin Rapids, Ryan (Lindsey) Manske of River Falls, and Tonya (Andy) Maier of Appleton; siblings: Douglas (Linda) Manske, and Gail Rueckheim.  brothers-in-law: Dennis Nichols and Bill Cloute. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Tamara Nichols and Jill Cloute.
