STEVENS POINT – Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School is one of 22 schools recognized with the 2017-18 Award of Excellence by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association.

The award recognizes member schools for their efforts and achievements in the areas of sportsmanship, ethics, integrity, leadership, and character.

“Interscholastic athletics are an important part of developing our students’ commitment, work ethic, and teamwork,” said Lincoln Principal Ron Rasmussen. “I am extremely proud to showcase the dedication and excellent sportsmanship of our student-athletes, coaches, and athletic administration.  One major component of this award is leadership exemplified by our student Captain’s Council, athletes volunteering in our community, and the number of coaches utilizing personal growth through the National Federation of State High Schools.  To be selected as a repeat recipient and one of only 22 in the state, is truly an honor and shows are Rapids Pride.”

Lincoln was also one of five schools receiving the honor as repeat recipients.

Schools will be presented the Award of Excellence and certificate at the fall area meetings and will be recognized for the achievement on the WIAA website, in the WIAA Bulletin, and at the annual meeting.
