NEKOOSA – Domtar employees recently volunteered to clean up trash along a one-mile stretch of adopted highway that is heavily traveled and provides access to a popular riverbank for fishing and hiking in the community.
Domtar has adopted the stretch of road in Nekoosa since 2014. Three times a year, Domtar Nekoosa Mill employees voluntarily clean up this heavily-traveled stretch of highway.
“Domtar’s Nekoosa mill employees are always excited to help keep our local community clean and green,” said Brian Kozlowski, Senior Manager for Sustainability Performance Optimization at Domtar. “We have adopted this heavily-traveled stretch of highway since 2014 to help ensure that the river bank alongside it stays clean and safe for use by our neighbors who love to fish and hike here.”
The mill volunteers who regularly clean up the highway are part of Domtar’s employee engagement program that promotes sustainable principles throughout the company known as EarthChoice Ambassadors.
Domtar is the largest employer in Nekoosa and employs nearly 450 people in the community. Domtar makes a wide variety of everyday products from sustainable wood fiber and is one of the world’s largest producers of a complete line of absorbent hygiene solutions and an innovator in absorbent technology.
