James W. Riley, age 82, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in Minocqua, WI.

Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2018 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.  The family will greet relatives and friends at Ritchay Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00-11:00 AM.

Jim was born April 9, 1936 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Wolcott and Gertrude (Huchthausen) Riley. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954 and attended UW-Stevens Point in 1955. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 as an instructor at the U.S. Army Guide Missile School in Huntsville, AL.

Jim married Mary Lou Combs on August 19, 1961. He graduated from UWSP in 1961 and began his teaching career at Woodside School. Later he taught at Lincoln High School becoming the first computer coordinator for the Wisconsin Rapids School District. He developed computer labs and assisted the faculty in establishing a computer curriculum. Jim was a former member of the Elks Club.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Julie (Tom Wurst) Riley of Woodruff, WI; three grandchildren, John Riley of Madison, WI, Amanda (Josh) Shefchik of Appleton, WI and Ashley (Michael) Petr of Oshkosh, WI; two great grandchildren and sister, Jean (Nick) Nicholson of Chippewa Falls, WI.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Lou; and daughter, Kristina Nicholson.
