Vehicle entrances changing for Downtown Farmer’s Market
For the Rapids City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Fencing is going up around the site of the new South Wood County YMCA and Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area building, as work begins on its construction.
The Wisconsin Rapids Downtown Farmers Market Committee continues to work closely with these organizations.
“The developers and these organizations have been very generous and flexible with scheduling to allow us to use the space until the end of the season,” said Sarah Salewski, Wood County Health Department. “Eventually, the market space will be used as a holding zone for construction materials and equipment. They know residents value the market and their flexibility really shows their dedication to the community and their value for community partner collaboration.”
With the start of construction, the entrances closest to the former JC Penny store will no longer be open to market visitors.
Vehicles are still able to enter off of West Grand, by Associated Bank; off of the expressway, by Subway and Hale Street; and off West Grand by taking Third Avenue South, behind the Centralia/ Lowell Center.
The market is open Thursdays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. – noon, with the last day of the season on Oct. 27.
The market will be moving in 2019 and the new location will be revealed pending permits and space approvals.
