WISCONSIN RAPIDS – On Oct. 4, law enforcement officials and community members will work alongside Special Olympics athletes to raise funds for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

Local students, Special Olympics athletes, and community members will “Run with the Cops” in a unique 5K night run/walk and kids fun run. The event will take place in Wisconsin Rapids and raises funds for Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes.

Run with the Cops kicks off Oct. 4 with registration at 5 p.m. behind the Moravian Church, 301 First Ave., Wisconsin Rapids. The kids’ fun run begins at 6:30 p.m. for children 12 and under.

During the 5K at 7 p.m., law enforcement will light up the route with red and blue lights. Glow stations will provide runners with the opportunity to accessorize with “glowing” apparel. Law enforcement will also be at the event to let people tour police vehicles, share coffee and donuts, and take pictures in a jail cell.

There will also be a basket raffle with baskets donated by community members.

Top male and female finishers will be awarded and each runner will receive a T-shirt.

For more information, call 715-848-0550.
