Doris L. Schroeder, age 87, of Wisconsin Rapids, died suddenly, Thursday September 20, 2018 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday September 26, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. Rev. Dennis Schwalenberg will officiate. Burial will be Thursday at Richford Cemetery in the town of Richford, Waushara County. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family will designate a memorial at a later date. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Doris married Leonard Schroeder on June 27, 1953 in Richford, Waushara County. He died December 7, 2005. She was a homemaker and a substitute teacher in the Nekoosa School District for many years. Doris was an organist at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and at New Rome Community Church. She was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Ladies Aid and a volunteer at the Senior Craft Shop and Meals-on-Wheels. Her many interests included gardening, rug weaving, playing the organ and suduko. Doris also enjoyed watching the Packers.
She is survived by three children Richard (Dawn Kopecky) Schroeder of Wisconsin Rapids, Carol (Gary) Coulthurst of Phillips and Kay (David) Hackett of Eagle River; son in law John “Jack” Roemer of Mauston; daughter in law Valerie Schroeder of Waukesha; seven grandchildren Jessica, Allen, Nathaniel, Jordan, Bryanna, Mark and Ashley; two great grandchildren; her brother Harlan Beutler of Marshfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband; parents Albert and Bertha (Weiland) Beutler; son Dale Schroeder and daughter Vivian Roemer.
