Leonard J. Osterbrink, age 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Friday, September 21, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Fr. Dave Bruener will officiate. Visitation will be at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday and also at the Church on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post #485 of Rudolph.
Leonard was born April 11, 1937 in the Township of Marathon, WI to Leonard and Helen (Imhoff) Osterbrink. He married Ardelle M. Brusky on October 27, 1956 in Halder, WI.
Leonard was a licensed cheesemaker and then became a millwright/machinist at the Kraft Mill, Paperboard, Dana Machine and at Consoweld, for 43 years, retiring in June 2000. Leonard served in the National Guard and Army Reserves from 1955 until 1966. During that time he was involved in the Berlin Crisis.
Leonard was everyone’s handy man. He could repair the unrepairable. He was also a women’s softball coach and enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was a member of the Vesper Snowdrifters.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Ardelle; son, David (Janine) Osterbrink of Nelsonville, WI; four daughters, Sharon Osterbrink of Wiscosnin Rapids, WI, Patricia (Larry) Homann of Rudolph, WI, Kathy (Jim) Buyze of Eau Claire, WI and Angie (Brian) Osterbrink of Wiscosnin Rapids, WI; seven grandchildren, Megan and Nathan Buyze, Amanda Webb, Katie, Jake and Amber Blackhall and Austin Schuster; four great grandchildren, Dylan and Alex Webb, Kendall Reiman and Mila Blackhall; five step grandchildren, Cindy Ostrowski Dan (Nikki) Homann, Dale Homann, Jill Bohn and Stacy (Kyle) Klaske and 12 step great grandchildren, Ashely Bohn, Madalyn Bohn, Emily Bohn, Hailey Homann, Gavin Ostrowski, Klara Homann, Allyson Klaske, Olivia Homann, Ava Klaske, Hazel Klaske, Levon Homann and Soren Homann. Leonard is also survived by one brother, Ronald Osterbrink of Mosinee, WI.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Gloria, Dorothy and Janice.
The Osterbrink family would like to thank the entire staff at Heartland Hospice, especially Laura, Lisa and Tiffany and also to Ann for the loving, compassionate care given to Leonard.
