Lorraine M. Barrette

Lorraine M. Barrette, age 90, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Arborview Court, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Monday, September 24, 2018 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Robert Schaller will officiate. Visitation will be at Saints Peter & Paul Church on Monday from 9:00-10:30 AM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.

Lorraine was born March 21, 1928 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to August and Berdelia (Bushmaker) Krommenakker. She married David W. Barrette on June 11, 1955 at St. James Catholic Church in Vesper, WI. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2009.

Lorraine was a school lunch cook for 8 years at Saints Peter & Paul School and for 19 years for the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools. She retired in 1990.  Lorraine was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Red Hats.

Lorraine enjoyed golfing, a good hand of sheepshead and an occasional trip to the casino with Arlene Goska. She rarely missed watching the Brewers, Packers or Badgers. For many years, Lorraine and Mary Ashbeck spent Saturdays cooking for many area weddings.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Michael (Bonnie) Barrette of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; three grandchildren, Lindsey (Ben) Riker of Three Lakes, WI, Kelli (Luke) Snively of Chippewa Falls, WI and Kristie (Travis) Blauert of DePere, WI; six great grandchildren, Lucas, Caeli, Sophia and Gianna Riker of Three Lakes, WI and Ellery and Aubrey Blauert of DePere, WI; one sister, Jane Bulgrin of Auburndale, WI and one brother, James (Judy) Krommenakker of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Lorraine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David; one sister, Sister Mariette (Marion) Krommenakker.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be designated to Assumption High School.

Lorraine’s family would like to thank the staffs of the Renaissance, Arborview Court, Heartland Hospice and Ritchay Funeral Home for the great care given to Lorraine.
