October 3

Military scam victim

At 2:58 p.m., a 66-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman reported that she has been scammed out of over $8,000 over the past eight years. The woman was sending money to a man who stated he was overseas for the military and always promised to pay her back when he came home.

October 5

Home broken into

At 6:09 p.m., a 60-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man reported that his house had been vandalized. The windows in the house had been busted and a TV was missing.

October 6

A 911 call leads to arrest

At 6:58 a.m., a 911 call came in and a disturbance could be heard in the background. It was determined that there was a fire arm in a residence with one man and two females. Police arrived and arrested a man who had a valid Milwaukee County warrant.

Man refuses to leave house

At 3:53 p.m., a 64-year-old woman phoned police due to a disturbance at her residence. She stated a 30-year-old man refused to leave her house after he was asked to. He had cut up some of her daughter’s clothing with a knife earlier, because he was upset that they asked him to leave. She was home with her daughter and two grandchildren. The man was in the basement refusing to leave. Police arrived and the man was placed in custody.

October 8

Stinky situation

At 6:17 a.m., a woman called to report a skunk on the road that had a can stuck on its head. Police arrived just in time to see the skunk free itself from the can and walk away from the road.

It’s five o’clock somewhere

At 8:27 a.m., a Wisconsin Rapids employer called police because one of the employees was intoxicated and refusing discipline. Police arrived and the woman was taken home by her parents.

Did someone call a plumber?

At 11:02 p.m., a 54-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman called to report that a man had come to her door claiming to be a plumber and that he was supposed to do a service call at her address. The woman did not call the plumber. She stated it was a red truck with a ladder on top.

October 9

Disturbance at gas station

At 2:25 a.m., a gas station employee phoned police after witnessing a man dragging a woman to his truck. The woman was screaming very aggressively. Police were able to locate the truck with the individuals. One man was arrested and a woman was cited.
